DIRECTOR GENERAL’S 2011 MESSAGE It is with profound gratitude and resolve, on behalf of the Board of Directors and Management of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority do i invite your undivided attentions again to yet another new year. With less than a week away from the country's fiftieth year anniversary, let me humbly apprise you all that my Parastatal has been robust and restless in actualizing the President's aspiration of transforming Sierra Leone into a 21st century state. Suffice it to say that the SLRA's road network wind that is heavily blowing is almost touching every end of the country making the once moribund roads and terrible drainage systems something "once upon a time". Make no mistake. Our dramatic push is no accident or coincidence. it is rather a consequence of hard-work and commitment much of which is inextricable linked to the unflinching co-operation of the government. the aforementioned variables: hard work and commitment, are inseparable tenants that we have not misplacedon our priority's list, thus making development vertical, not horizontal. Since it is rathe sinful to be an ingrate, let me therefore record my thanks and appreciation to the Staff and Management of SLRA whose administrative and technical aptitude has richly added to its fabri. I will remiss in my effort if i fail to make mention of the praise-worthy support of donor nations without whose support our dreams would have faded into thin air or turned into a nightmare. I remain indebted herein. The European Union as principal donor agency has been partnering with us through the thick and thin of things to ensuring that our major road networks are given the requisite facelifts required of international standard. Further down, agencies like OPEC, BADEA, SAUDI, KUWAITI FUND, ADB, WORLD BANK etc have all been tireless in their contribution. Without any stretch of imagination, any dream under the sun remains a mere thought if it is not translated into action. Thus, this is no doubt lives my indebtedness entirely with road users who implicitly constitute our stakeholders for they partly represent the decision makers of our projects. With every degree of certainty and exactitude, i can confidently assure you that there haredly exists any town in the country that has not felt the mystery of our expertise orchestrated under my stewardship. if my parastatal is to be evaluated of judged by our deeds and examples, in no way would it be placed on the wrong side of history. The robust wind of roads construction and/or rehabilitation is heavily touching major towns to include Freetown, Bo, Kenema, Makeni, Kono, Magburaka, Lungi, Port Loko, Kambia, the list is inexhaustible. So much as we relish the beauty of roads transformation it is my candid and humble plea that we remain watchful and responsible in their use. No development is possible where makers of things are outnumbered by detractors. let us all afford lending hands as willing tools of advancement and equally uphold a deep sense of high moral rectitude. In conclusion however, let me apprise you all to abandon the templates that have held back our progress and heed to this excerpt of the country's national anthem - "...land that we love our Sierra Leone". I thank you all.
